Perth: Christmas Luncheon and Sunday School Performance at Sts Constantine and Helene

On Sunday, 26 November 2023, the Parish of Sts Constantine and Helene held its annual Christmas Luncheon in the Church hall, in the presence of His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea. During the luncheon, the Sunday School children performed their end-of-year concert with a play about the finding of the Precious Cross by St Helene. The children also chanted the apolytikion of Sts Constantine and Helene and various other Christmas songs.

His Grace Bishop Elpidios congratulated all the children and gave them a special end-of-year blessing card from His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia. His Grace conveyed to all the children the paternal love and blessing of His Eminence.

Also in attendance at the luncheon was the Consul for Greece in Perth, Mrs. Georgia Karasiotou with her family, as well as Mr, Andy Wahid, Volunteer Services Coordinator at Perth Children’s Hospital.

Mr. Wahid attended as an invited guest to address the luncheon about the plight of sick children over the holiday period in the Perth Children’s Hospital, and to thank the Parish for the very successful Toy Drive that is run every year. Last year the Parish donated 545 toys to the hospital, and this year the Toy Drive is on track to collect even more. Mr. Wahid thanked both His Grace Bishop Elpidios and Father Terry for the invitation to speak and congratulated the Parish on the wonderful sense of community and volunteering spirit that was evident.

Overall, the luncheon was a great success and well attended by 170 people.

His Grace Bishop Elpidios gave special thanks to Father Terry, the Sunday School Teachers and all the wonderful volunteers and donors who made the Christmas luncheon for 2023 a memorable success.
