Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Nicholas of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, in Athens
On Sunday morning, 24 November 2024, a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was solemnly celebrated at the Church of St. Nicholas in Kolonaki, Athens, a church granted to the Ecumenical Patriarchate by the Church of Greece.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who had participated in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia over the preceding days.
Also in attendance were His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, His Eminence Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea, the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s representative in Athens, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of Proikonissos, and His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria. The service was further graced by the presence of many Archons of the Ecumenical Throne.
Also present were the Archon, Sotiris Tsiordas, and the new Civil Administrator of Mount Athos, Alkiviadis Stephanis, who after the Divine Liturgy was appointed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as ab Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
