Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria ordained new Bishop in Cairo
On Sunday, 3 March 2024, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Patriarchal Church of St. Nicholas in Cairo, during which he ordained His Grace Assistant Bishop Stephenos of Hippo.
Present for the ordination were: His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Gabriel of Leontopolis, General Patriarchal Vicar, His Eminence Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes, His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolaos of Ermoupolis, His Eminence Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, His Eminence Metropolitan Savvas of Nubia, His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupolis, His Eminence Metropolitan Antonios of Glyfada, Elliniko, Voula, Vouliagmeni and Vari, His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Ptolemaida, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, His Eminence Metropolitan Narcissus of Pelusium, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, His Eminence Metropolitan Meletios of Carthagena, His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of Petra and Cherronesos, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinsasha. Also, present were: Thier Graces, Bishop Prodromos of Toliara and South Madagascar, Bishop Isaak of Bujumbura and Burundi and Assistant Bishops Methodios of Knossos, and Kosmas of Konstantiani.
Also present and taking part in the ordination were: Archimandrite Dionysios Haritakis, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Agarathos, Holy Archdiocese of Crete, The Protosyncellus’ of the Holy Metropolises of Ilion, Memphis and Paronaxia, the brother of the ordained Bishop, Protopresbyter Father Panagiotis Soulimiotis, clergyman of the Holy Metropolis of Triphylia, and other clergy and monastics, who made their way to the Egyptian Capital City to participate in this honourable ordination and event in the life of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Also present in the congregation were: the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Cairo, Mrs. Polly Ioannou, the representantive of Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou, Ambassador of Greece to Cairo, Mr. Georgios Economou, Secretary of the Embassy, President of the Greek Community of Cairo, Mr. Christos Kavalis, President of the Arab-Orthodox Community of Daher Salem Kassis, President of the Patriarchal Center of Cairo Mr. Georgios Zoumboulidis, representatives of Greek institutions and associations in Cairo.
