Bucharest,
May 3, 2022To the,
Archbishop of Athens and All Greece,
IERONYMOS B’
President of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of GreeceYour Beatitude,
Christ is Risen!
The news of the unexpected transition from this life of our beloved brother in Christ, the late Metropolitan Paul of Drama, who received many gifts from God to fulfill his holy work as a worthy and dynamic leader of the faithful of the Metropolis of Drama, caused us deep pain.
We believe that it is our duty to thank, in these abrupt moments of separation, the exceptional love shown by His Eminence Metropolitan Paul of Drama to the Romanian Orthodox Church and to the Romanian people, keeping alive the moments of friendly and fraternal visits he made to Romania, especially to the feast of Saint Demetrius the New, the Patron Saint of Bucharest, but also to Iasi, during the time we were there as a Metropolitan of Moldova.
For all that the late Metropolitan Paul, our brother in Christ, has meant to us, for the Romanian faithful and for Romania, we express our gratitude and our appreciation and pray to God to repose his soul in a place of brightness, in peace and in the love of the Holy Trinity.
Memory eternal”.
With brotherly love in Christ and deepest respect,
† Daniel
Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church
