Patriarch of Antioch discussed situation in Syria with UN representative

His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East met with Mr. Abdullah Dardari, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Director of the United Nations Development Programme, and Head of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, at the Patriarchal Residence in Damascus.

The discussions centered on the current situation in Syria, emphasising the importance of supporting the Syrian people across all communities and demographics through humanitarian aid and the lifting of sanctions. The meeting also highlighted the critical role of the international community in fostering and advancing these efforts.

The Patriarch and Mr. Dardari underscored the need for collaboration and solidarity to alleviate the hardships faced by the Syrian population and to promote sustainable development and recovery in the region.
