Parish of Saint Sophia and Three Daughters Taverna Night 2024

Last weekend the parish of Saint Sophia and Three Daughters was transported to the heart of Greece with a vibrant Taverna Night organised by the parish Committee and Philoptochos. The night was a delightful blend of traditional Greek food, music and dance, attended by parishioners eager to re-experience a night back in our homeland. The evening began with a warm welcome from Parish Priest Fr Irenaeus Triantis as guests were greeted with dazzling lights and mezze platters, setting the tone for the night.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the kontosouvli featuring a delicious Cretan ‘Dakos’ salad. The meal was complemented with a live clarinet and drum which created an enchanting atmosphere which encouraged guests to take to the dance floor for traditional Greek dances.

As the night progressed, in addition to the culinary and musical delights, the Taverna Night featured an exciting raffle and auction that added an extra layer of excitement to the evening. These prizes were generously donated by parishioners and friends of the parish. The highlight however, was the auction of two oil paintings depicting picturesque Grecian landscapes.

The success of the night not only entertained guests, but also raised funds which will be used to support the parish in its future endeavours.

The parish of St Sophia and Three Daughters would like to thank all those who attended the night and donated to make the evening a success.
