Official visit of Theodoros Livanios to Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra on 21-27 March

This year’s anniversary events for the celebration of March 25 in Sydney will be attended by the Deputy Minister of the Interior of Greece, Mr. Theodoros Livanios, representing the Greek government. This year, in fact, for the first time after four years, the customary march in front of the Sydney Opera House will take place again.

In the context of his visit, Mr. Livanios will meet with institutions and representatives of the Greek community in Australia, in order to discuss with them issues that concern the Greeks of Australia, but also to inform them about the recent initiative of the Greek government to establish postal voting for the European elections. This is an important innovation in the electoral history of Greece, which will allow, for the first time, Greek voters to vote by post, from their place of residence, either inside or outside the territory, without any restrictions whatsoever.

Given that, in July 2023, all conditions for prior residence and submission of a tax return in Greece were abolished, the aim is, in the upcoming European elections in June, for even more Greeks to participate, giving a strong message to Europe about the future of our country.

At the meetings that will take place, the Greeks of Australia will be informed by the Deputy Minister of the Interior about the simple and fast registration process on the electronic platform epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr, either from home or with the assistance of the local Greek consular authorities.

Mr. Livanios will be in Melbourne on March 21-23 and in Sydney on March 24-26, while on March 27 he will visit Canberra.
