NSW records 344 new local COVID-19 cases and two deaths as Dubbo region goes into lockdown

NSW has recorded 344 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases and two deaths.

A man in his 90s and a man in his 30s both died in hospital overnight, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Wednesday.

Of the new cases, at least 65 were infectious in the community.

Meanwhile, the Dubbo local government area in the state’s central west will join lockdown, as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread from Greater Sydney.

The region will go into lockdown from 1pm on Wednesday until the beginning of Thursday, 19 August after two COVID-19 cases were recorded in the area.

Millions of people in Sydney and surrounds are now in lockdown, with the Hunter, Byron Bay, Armidale and Tamworth areas also enduring snap lockdowns.
