Northcote: The Akathist Hymn and Holy Vigil in honour of the Theotokos

On Friday evening, 19 April 2024, of the 5th week of Lent, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta officiated at the Service of the Akathist Hymn which took place at the Archdiocesan Church of Our Lady ‘Axion Esti’ in Northcote, Victoria.

Following this, a Holy Vigil took place in honour of the Holy Theotokos, with the participation of many priests of the Archdiocesan District of Northcote.

The chanter’s stand was directed by the teachers and students of the Byzantine Music School.

At the end, His Grace conveyed to the congregation the blessings and wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while he spoke about the holy personality of the Mother of God, emphasising her living presence in our lives.
