Northcote: His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta visits Byzantine Music School

On Monday, 3 October 2022, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta made a visit to the Byzantine Music School of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia at the Archdiocesan District of Northcote of Victoria. The Northcote branch of the School operates every Monday in the premises of St John’s Greek Orthodox College Preston.

The visit of Bishop Kerasunta took place on the occasion of the start of the Term 4 of the School’s teaching program. His Grace Bishop Evmenios, representing His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia visited the classrooms, met with the teachers and students, and conveyed to all the blessing of their Shepherd, Archbishop Makarios.

Recalling that the establishment and operation of the Byzantine Music School was one of the first initiatives of Archbishop Makarios after his arrival in Australia in 2019, His Eminence pointed out that the art of Byzantine Music is very important for our Church and for Orthodox worship.

Bishop Evmenios did not fail to express the appreciation and gratitude of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios to all the teachers who dedicate their valuable time for the purposes and needs of the School, while he also thanked the students who made the decision to dedicate time and effort to know and serve the sacred art of Byzantine Music.

It is worth noting that the Byzantine Music School of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia has branches in most Australian States, it is staffed with experienced and renowned professors, while at the moment its students exceed 100 nationally.
