Northcote: Celebration of the Annunciation of Our Lady and the Doxology for the Anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821
The double feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos and the National Anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 was celebrated with due splendour in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote in Victoria. The centre of the celebrations was the Archdiocesan Church of Our Lady “Axion Esti”, where His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, presided over the Holy Services.
On the eve of the feast day, Sunday 24 March 2024, His Grace officiated at the Great Vespers for the feast of the Annunciation of Our Lady, and was joined by the holy Clergy of the Archdiocesan District. At the conclusions of the Vespers service, the holy icon of Our Lady “Axion Esti” was taken in procession around the Church.
On the morning of the feast day, Monday 25 March, His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta officiated during the Matins service and presided over the Divine Liturgy, while the customary Doxology Service for the National Anniversary of 25 March 1821, followed. His Grace Bishop Evmenios also conveyed to the congregation the wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
