NKUA: Program of conferral of Honorary Doctorate on Archbishop Makarios of Australia

On Wednesday, 7 May 2025, at 7:00 p.m., in the Great Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Primate and Exarch of all Oceania, will be proclaimed an honorary doctor of the Department of Theology and the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies of the School of Theology of the University of Athens.

His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will honour the event with his presence.

Address by the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siassos.

Presentation of the work and personality of the honouree by the Dean of the School of Theology, Professor Emmanuel Karageorgoudis.

Announcement of the honouree:

– Reading of the texts of the School Resolution, the Proclamation and the Doctoral Diploma and investiture of the honouree by the Dean of the School of Theology, Professor Emmanuel Karageorgoudis.

Address by the Honouree, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Primate and Exarch of all Oceania, entitled: “Vox populi (voice of the people) on the internet. The contemporary threat of the alteration of ecclesiastical and democratic thought.”
