Nikos Dendias at the Greek school of Saint Nicholas, Ghana

The Greek preparatory school of Saint Nicholas, in Tema, Ghana, was visited by the Minister of National Defense of Greece, Mr. Nikos Dendias, on the occasion of his participation in the UN Ministerial Meeting for the Support of Peace Operations in the African country, celebrating with the children yesterday’s feast day dedicated to Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the wonderworker.

Mr. Dendias, after thanking “The Captain Panagiotis Tsakos and his Foundation, Mr. Vangelis Mytilineos and his Foundation and all the many volunteers who have created a warm, Greek, welcoming place, for the children of this difficult-to-survive region”, he assured again that the Greek State “will continue to contribute and support this effort”.

“I already promised that we will give the rest of the money to finish the “Yiannis Antetokounmpo” stadium, so that the children can play basketball, and then we will also build a football stadium. There are two retired players here (Peter Ofori-Quaye and Koffi Amponsah), who will help these kids learn football and create two very good teams, one in basketball and one in football,” he concluded.
