Metropolitan of Princes’ Islands received Archbishop of Crete and Metropolitan of Rethymno

His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Dimitrios of Princes’ Islands, on Friday, 1 December 2023, with great joy and honour, welcomed at the central offices of the Headquarters of the Metropolis, the fraternal visit of His Eminence Archbishop Evgenios of Crete, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, and a large group of 150 pilgrims, consisting of clergy, monks and lay believers, originating from Heraklion and Rethymno, Crete.

Metropolitan Dimitrios warmly addressed the new Archbishop of Crete, wishing him strength from on high in his esteemed duties as Shepherd of Heraklion and President of the Eparchial Synod of Crete, also congratulating the young, dynamic and learned Hierarch of the Great Island of Crete, His Eminence Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno.

Following from this, the Archbishop of Crete addressed Metropolitan Dimitrios offering his personal gratitude and thanks for the kind and respectable hospitality which was shown to his person and the other pilgrims from Crete. His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Dimitrios then welcomed the large group of pilgrims. After this, a reception in their honour took place, organised by the Honourable Princes’ Islands Commission, on whose behalf was represented by the President, Mrs. Agni Nikolaidou.

Concluding the honourable visit, Metropolitan Dimitrios then accompanied Archbishop Evgenios of Crete and his honourable entourage to the Metropolitan Church of Saint Dimitrios, where another meal was offered to the respected guests by the Church Community.
