Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras presided over funeral service of the late Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia

The Funeral Service for the late Bishop Ierotheos of Efkarpia, Abbot of the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou in Astoria, America, took place at the Holy Trinity Church of Patras, on Thursday, 14 March 2024.

The body of the deceased was brought to the Church on Wednesday evening, 13 March, where a Holy Vigil was conducted by His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Triki and Stagi, with numerous Clergymen participating in the service, alongside Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras, who prayed from the altar.

On Thursday morning, 14 March, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Trinity.

In addition, the Metropolitan of Patras presided over the funeral service, delivering a eulogy and extolling the character, virtues, and contributions of the departed Bishop, both within the Holy Metropolis of Patras and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Their Eminences, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Veria, Metropolitan Ierotheos of Nafpaktos, Metropolitan Kallinikos of Arta, Metropolitan Athanasios of Ilia, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Triki, Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania, as well as Their Graces, Bishop Theophilos of Lacedaemon and Bishop Chrysanthos of Kernitsa, co-celebrated the service.

The body of the late Bishop was then transported to his homeland in Thermo, Aetolia, where clergy and laity, led by Metropolitan Damaskinos of Aetolia and Acarnania, paid their final respects. Subsequently, the burial took place at the site of the Hierarch’s birth.
