Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium celebrates name day feast

On Wednesday, 24 July 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxemburg, celebrating his patronal feast day, presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy which took place at the Metropolitan Church of Brussels, and was joined in concelebration by the clergy of the Holy Metropolis with the participation of a large congregation of faithful believers, who hastened to honour their Shepherd.

At the end of the Matins Service of the Feast Day, His Eminence awarded the office of Archimandrite upon Hieromonk Father Emilianos Hatzivasileiou.

After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence thanked the concelebrating clergy and the faithful, who came to honour the memory of Saint Athenagoras the Apologist and their Shepherd bearing his name, and wished for the intercessions of the saint to protect everyone. This was then followed by a celebratory lunch at the Parish Centre of the Metropolitan Church.

The holy clergy and the pious people wish their Chief Shepherd, Metropolitan Athenagoras, many years with God’s power and health for the good of the local Church in Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
