Memorial service for the victims of the train accident in Tempe to take place on Sunday 25 February

In consultation with relatives of the victims of the Tempe train accident, the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, on Sunday, 25 February 2024, the annual Memorial service will be held in the Church of Saint Thomas, Makrychorion, for the repose of the souls of our fellow brethren who lost their lives in this tragic accident.

The memorial service will be preceded by a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, in which His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos will officiate, who will then conduct the memorial service for all the victims. Immediately after the Divine Liturgy, and around 11:30 am, at the scene of the accident, a Hierarchical Trisagion will be held for the repose of the souls of our brothers and sisters who fell asleep in the Lord in such horrific circumstances.

From the local Metropolis, a warm request is made to all those who wish to attend to pray for the souls of our fellow brethren, to faithfully observe the instructions of the Greek Police, coming to the place of the accident.

Also, on Wednesday, 28 February 2024, and around 12:00, when exactly one year has passed since the day of the accident, a memorial service will be held for the repose of the souls of our brothers and sisters who passed away, at the scene of the tragedy.
