Memorial for the victims of the Massacre of Distomo, Greece
On Saturday, 10 June 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Georgios of Thebes, Livadeia and Avlida, attended the events for the massacre of Distomo (June 10, 1944) by the Nazi occupation troops.
Metropolitan Georgios presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Church of Saint Nikolaos Distomos, as well as a Memorial Service for the repose of the souls of the 218 victims of Nazi atrocities, with the presence of the political and military authorities, crowds of people and all the inhabitants of Distomos. While, afterwards at the Mausoleum, a trisagion was held for the repose of the souls of the victims.
On Sunday afternoon, 11 June 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Georgios attended the event in honour and memory organised by the Municipality of Levadeia and the Helikonia Association for the 14 executed in Helikon (Zeriki) by the Italians in 1942 and held a memorial service.
