Melbourne: Great Vespers at the Church of Saints Anargiri, Oakleigh

On Sunday afternoon, 30 June 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Melbourne, visited the celebrating Church of Saints Anargiri in the suburb of Oakleigh in Melbourne, and officiated over the Great Vespers for the Feast Day of Saints Kosmas and Damianos the Unmercenaries, and was joined by the Parish Priest, Father Stavros Kakavas and other clergymen of the Archdiocesan District. A crowd of faithful believers flooded the church to honour the memory of the Patron Saints of the Parish.

At the conclusion of the Vespers Service, Bishop Kyriakos conveyed to the faithful, the wishes, blessings and love of their Chief Shepherd, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

During his homily, Bishop Kyriakos referred to the lives and activities of Saints Kosmas and Damianos the Unmercenaries, focusing on their role as doctors who selflessly healed people and animals, without asking for anything in return, except that the healed people would believe in Christ.
