Melbourne: Feast Day Vespers at the celebrating Church of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene

In the afternoon on Monday of Bright week, 6 May 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis officiated at the Festive Vespers on the occasion of the Feast Day of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene at the Church named in their honour in the suburb of Bentleigh, Melbourne.

His Grace was joined in the Vespers by clergymen from the Archdiocesan District of Melbourne, specifically Father Dimitrios Drougas, Father Panteleimon Laskaris, Father Panagiotis Zoumboulis, Father Stavros Kakavas, Father Antonios Vanikiotis and Father Christos Dimolianis, Parish Priest of the celebrating Parish.

His Grace Bishop Themistocles of Nicopolis, from the Patriarchate of Alexandria, also participated in the Vespers Service, and preached about the lives of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene, describing how they were martyred by the Ottomans on Bright Tuesday in 1463, just a decade after the fall of Constantinople.

At the end of the Vespers, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis conveyed to the congregation the Feast Day wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
