Melbourne: Call for volunteers for Anniversary of Greek National Day Parade – 25th March 1821

After a three-year absence due to the pandemic, the restrictive measures and confinements experienced by the city of Melbourne, The 25th March Parade will once again take place and will be held with great style and ceremony.

In particular, the entire Greek community will celebrate the Greek National Day Anniversary by following the parade on Sunday, 19 March 2023 at 1:00 p.m., at Lakeside Stadium, in the suburb of Albert Park. The parade will be honoured with their presence of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as well as the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis, while both the State and Federal Governments have been invited.

The Victorian Greek National Day Anniversary Committee is looking for volunteers to offer their time and help on the day of the parade. Volunteers are invited to attend on Sunday 19 March 2023 at Lakeside Stadium at specific times helping out in different areas. Those interested in participating are kindly requested to contact the committee through the email address: [email protected]. A basic requirement for interested parties to participate is to have a Working with Children Check, as well as to attend a special information meeting.

It is worth noting that various associations have already started rehearsals and are preparing for the community parade, which will open with over 50 drummers from the Greek Orthodox Day Schools of the Community. Those schools and organisations that have not sent their application for participation are invited to do so as soon as possible.
