Melbourne: Andreas Papadopoulos Dance Workshop in Balwyn North

Greek dance teacher Andreas Papadopoulos led a two-hour traditional dance workshop on 22 April 2025 at the Balwyn North Parish of The Presentation of Our Lady to the Temple. 

The workshop, hosted by the Hellenic School of Dance, Music, Arts and Culture, focused on regional dances from Macedonia and Epirus. 

Mr. Papadopoulos is a senior dancer and long-standing instructor at the Dora Stratou Dance Theatre in Athens, Greece’s leading institution for traditional folk dance. With over three decades of experience as a performer and teacher, he brought deep technical knowledge and cultural insight to the workshop, guiding participants through stylistic and rhythmic elements distinctive to northern Greece. 

With the support of Father Nicholas Georgiou, the event was organised under the direction of Mr. Jordan Moshcovitis, and assistant teacher Mr. Pano Stamatopoulos. Over 80 attendees from the local community took part, making the workshop a strong example of cultural engagement and a meaningful contribution to the preservation of Hellenic folk traditions.
