Melbourne: All-night vigil in honor of Panagia of Pisidiotissa on Friday, 2 September 2022.

On Friday, 2 September 2022 from 7pm at the Holy Church of Saint Eustathios in South Melbourne an all night vigil will be held in honor of the feast day of Panagia Pisidiotissa with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios and under the guidance of His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis.

The miraculous icon of Panagia of Pisidiotissa originates from Sozopolis in Pisidia. Sozopolis is located in southern Turkey.

Information about the miraculous icon of Panagia of Pisidiotissa.

At the seventh Ecumenical Synod, a text was read by the Patriarch of Constantinople Eutychios, in which it is written that myrrh flows from the hands of the Virgin of Pisidiotissa and the following event is described.

In the Pontic city of Amasia a baby had been stillborn. His parents, who had trouble conceiving children, sadly sought refuge with the Patriarch of Constantinople Eutychios and begged him to pray for them to have children. The Patriarch prayed fervently, anointed the parents with the myrrh of Panagia Pisidiotissa and told them: “You will have a strong child and you will name him Peter”.

These words proved prophetic. Indeed, a cute baby boy was born and they named him Peter. Later they had a second son and named him Ioannis. Both children grew up strong and in good health. This fact became known in the surrounding area of Amasia and contributed to spreading and increasing the respect and honor towards this miraculous Icon.
