On Sunday morning, 16 June 2024, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the sidelines of the International Conference for Peace in Ukraine, in Bergenstock, Switzerland.

Government sources, cited by the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, state that during the meeting issues related to the Patriarchate were discussed, while satisfaction was expressed for the fact that there is positive movement on the issue of the reopening of the Theological School of Halki.

The Greek Prime Minister, according to the same sources, informed His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew about his intention to visit Constantinople in the near future for matters concerning the Patriarchate and the diaspora.

It is recalled that the Ecumenical Patriarch is the only religious leader who was summoned and is participating in the International Conference for Peace in Ukraine, following the official invitation of the President of Switzerland, Ms. Viola Amherd.
