Meatfare Sunday was celebrated along with a new ordination in Kyiv, Ukraine

On 10 March 2024, Meatfare Sunday, His Eminence Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine led the Divine Liturgy at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv.

The Primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine was accompanied by Bishop Yefrem of Vasylkiv, Bishop Arseniy of Bohuslav, the brothers of the Golden-Domed Monastery, and invited clergy.

After reading the Gospel, the Metropolitan delivered the first sermon, offering a heartfelt prayer to the Lord during this perilous time for Ukraine.

Throughout the service, prayers were lifted for the brave soldiers defending Ukraine, for the government, and for Ukrainian people. There were also prayers for the souls of all fallen defenders of the Motherland and civilians who have perished in the conflict.

Metropolitan Epifaniy conducted the priestly ordination of Father Mykola Lazarik, a dedicated master’s student of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy.
