Meatfare Sunday at the Holy Monastery of “Axion Esti” in Northcote, Victoria
On Meatfare Sunday February 27th 2022 His Grace, Bishop of Kerasounta of the Archdiocesan District of Northcote Father Evmenios has performed the liturgy at the Holy Monastery ‘Axion Estin’ Northcote with the Protopresbyterof the Ecumenical Throne father Spyridon Bonia and Father Jordan Krikelis.
At the end of the liturgy, Father Spyridon Bonias thanked His Grace for his attendance and his love.
In his sermon his Grace reciprocated the kind words of Father Bonia and he in turn thanked for the invitation. His Grace, Bishop of Kerasounta, Father Evmenios, spoke about the word of the Gospel and prepared the faithful for the coming fasting emphasizing that fasting it is not only for the body, but its main aspect is, the spiritual transformation and the spiritual ascension of each of us.
His Grace continued by saying that ‘we will achieve these with our faith in Christ and love for our fellow human beings’. He also stated that we should genuinely help our fellow human beings when they need us and not to exclude them from our lives and ignore them. He also referred to the coming days and encouraged the faithful to stand by the church in its God pleasing work of assisting people in need.
His Grace, Bishop of Kerasounta, referred to the two appeals that are taking place currently at the Greek Welfare Centre Victoria of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, the Easter 2022 and the Covid-19 Food Appeals and asked everybody to contribute according to their abilities in order to gather sufficient food to help all those who asked for help from the Greek Welfare Centre Victoria.
