Loutropyrgos wildfire condition improving, traffic on Athens-Corinth motorway running normally

The condition with the wildfire that broke out earlier on Friday at a forest area of Loutropyrgos, Nea Peramos is better. The fire broke out at about 10:30, three kilometres after Elefsina toll post to Corithos.

A message from the emergency number 112 was sent to the residents of Ano Vlychada to evacuate the area and move to Megara due to the forest fire in progress in Loutropyrgos.

An  Air Tractor firefighting aircraft made an emergency water landing while operating at the wildfire in Loutropyrgos, Nea Peramos.
According to information from the Fire Brigade, the two-seat aircraft made the water landing due to engine failure. Both members of the crew are safe.

Meanwhile, the traffic on the new Athens-Corinth motorway that was interrupted from Elefsina toll post to Corinth due to the wildfire in Loutropyrgos is now running normally.

The wildfire broke out a few while before 10:30 on Friday in a forest area of Loutropyrgos, Nea Peramos.
According to the Fire Brigade, the fire is burning 3 km after Elefsina Toll Station on the direction to Corinth at Loutropyrgos.

15 Fire Engines with 55-member crew, three teams of firefighters on foot, 3 firefighting helicopters and two firefighting aircraft are currently battling the blaze.
