Laying of the foundations of a new school in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo

His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa proceeded in the blessed foundation of yet another School on Tuesday, 2 April 2024.

This wonderful event, the foundation of the School of the Parish of Saint Barbara in the city of Kinshasa, was planned to be conducted by the holy hands of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and all Africa. However, due to other commitments, he had to return to Alexandria in an emergency, offering his patriarchal wishes and blessing for this new missionary effort of the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa.

Their Graces the Eparchial Bishops, Timotheos of Gomas and Athanasios of Beni were present during the foundation service. The faithful welcomed the newly ordained Hierarchs with enthusiasm and songs.

The consecration of the foundation was performed by the local Shepherd, Metropolitan Theodosios, who conveyed to all the paternal wishes and patriarchal blessings of the Primate of the Alexandrian Church, His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and All Africa.

His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa, in his brief address, particularly emphasised the value and importance of every school in the Parishes, because in this way, with the presence of the School, the children are taught to read and write, they learn of the things of God and their minds are enlightened.

He also thanked, from the bottom of his heart, His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, because with his keen prompting and urging, donors were found, so that the said School could be built.

Also, Metropolitan Theodosios thanked His Eminence Metropolitan Georgios of Guinea for his mediation, in order to implement a long-standing appeal for the parishioners of Saint Barbara.

This parish consists of devout believers and an, by all accounts, excellent Priest, who all perform great works. However, the absence of the school greatly hampered the pastoral ministry of the Parish.

Finally, Metropolitan Theodosios asked the Parish Priest of the Church to always remember the names of the above-mentioned Hierarchs for this great offering, while the foundation ceremony ended with singing together, with one mouth and one heart, the Fimi of the Patriarch of Alexandria.
