Kalymnos: On the list of “authentic” destinations in the world

The French TV station TF1 presents Kalymnos as an island of fishermen, charming with its authenticity and the quiet mornings when the sound of the fishing boat spreads across the harbour like a melody. Special reference is made to the tradition of sponge harvesting, but also to the rising trend of rock climbing and abseiling.

Among the “authentic destinations” of the world for this summer, Kalymnos according to popular French TV station TF1, is a most see destination, a place of tradition, hospitality and beauty in nature.

The report presents Kalymnos as the island of fishermen, which fascinates with its authenticity and the quiet mornings when the sound of the fishing boat sounds like a melody. Special mention is made to harvesting of sponges but also in the rising one climbing tendency, for which Kalymnos has become world famous.

The tribute to Kalymnos belongs to a travel list of destinations from around the world such as South West France, the island of Pag in Croatia, the Italian island of Pantelleria and the Bahamas chosen by French television for the unique or alternative experiences they offer.

The number of visitors to Kalymnos increased significantly during this summer season. The beautiful beaches, the underwater wealth, our unique climbing fields, the local cuisine, the traditions, and the quality tourist services are just some of the attractions of our visitors who prefer us every year“, states the mayor of Kalymnos, Dimitrios Diakomichalis.

Taking advantage of the dynamics of the current tourist season, the Municipality of Kalymnos is planning targeted journalistic missions with important photographers and journalists in consultation with bodies such as the French and Italian EOT Offices, while for the first time it is launching a collaboration with a specialised tourism marketing company for the implementation of promotion actions.
