In Cavafy’s Nichori

On Sunday, 13 August 2023, the Community of Neochorion on the Bosporus, after the Service of the Supplicatory Canon to the Theotokos, received with great joy Mr. Andreas Georgiadis, painter and excellent set designer from Athens.

In particular, he has dealt with the person of Constantine P. Cavafy and in his works he has depicted his face and subjects from his place of residence. He donated a work from his rich collection to the Community of Neochorion, which particularly respects and honours Constantine Cavafy, to decorate the event hall. In this work, he has depicted Cavafy’s demolished residence in Alexandria after being bombed by the British.

Mr. Georgiadis and his entourage were welcomed with warm words by the Archon Grand Hartofylakas of the Great Church of Christ, Mr. Panteleimon Vigas, in the Community hall, where a modest fasting meal was served.
