Holy Vigil held for the memory of Saint Joseph the Hesychast

A Holy Vigil was held according to ecclesiastical order and Mount Athos tradition at the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi on the feast of the memory of the Holy and God-bearing Father Joseph the Hesychast.

The Holy Vigil was presided over by the Abbot of the Monastery, Elder Ephraim, accompanied by the fathers of the Monastery and other priests and monks who came to honour the memory of the Holy Father Joseph the Hesychast and venerate his grace-filled holy relics.

The Analogia (chanters stands) were attended by Mr. Ioannis Hassanidis, Head Chanter of the Holy Monastery of Saint Theodora in Thessaloniki, the Vatopedi Fathers, as well as the Byzantine Choir “Thronos” from Romania.

In the meeting hall of the monastery during the established Mt Athos offering of hospitality, Geronda Ephraim, Abbot of Vatopedi Monastery referred to the life and person of Saint Joseph, who was the exponent and continuator of the patristic and hesychast tradition on Mount Athos, who until today teaches the masses through his many teachings.
