Holy Diocese of Chora: Divine Liturgy at the Church of Our Lady the Merciful in Bacchus Marsh
On Tuesday, 26 December, the second day of the Feast of Christmas, a Feast Day Divine Liturgy took place at the Holt Chapel of Our Lady the Merciful (Panagia Eleousa) in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. A multitude of faithful from parishes of the Holy Diocese of Chora reverently participated, transported by buses, to commemorate the great feast of the Synaxis of the Mother of God.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora, who was joined by Priests of the Holy Diocese.
In his sermon, His Grace referred to the theological depth of the Incarnation of Christ, emphasising that the Nativity of the Lord is the highest expression of God’s love and mercy towards humanity. At the same time, he explained the significance of the feast of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos, which is commemorated on the second day of Christmas. He emphasised that the Church pays due honour to the Virgin Mary, who became the “the chosen vessel” for the salvation of the world.
His Grace conveyed to everyone the blessings and paternal love of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
Afterwards, in the courtyard of the church, a festive celebration was held, where the faithful had the opportunity to exchange wishes, taste traditional dishes and share the joy of the celebration in a spirit of love and unity.
This annual pilgrimage Divine Liturgy at the Chapel of Our Lady the Merciful (Panagia Eleousa) is now a spiritual tradition, offering everyone an opportunity to renew and strengthen their faith.
