Holy Diocese of Chora: Cutting of the Vasilopita at the Church of Our Lady “Axion Esti”

On Friday, 3 January 2025, at the Archdiocesan Church of Our Lady “Axion Esti”, the Holy Diocese of Chora held the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita, in the presence of His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Chora and His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne.

The event was graced by the presence of the Federal Government representative, Ms. Maria Vamvakinou MP, and the President of the Greek Community of Melbourne, Mr. Bill Papastergiadis. Also present were representatives from St. John’s College in Preston and the Greek school “Aetolian College” of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.

During the service, the New Year’s message of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, was read and his blessings were conveyed to all those present, with wishes for a blessed and peaceful new year.

After the service, food and refreshments were offered in the church courtyard, where those present had the opportunity to exchange wishes and strengthen the bonds of love and unity that distinguish the life of our Church.
