His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis liturgised at Church of the Archangels in Albury, NSW

On the morning of the Fifth Sunday of Lent, April 10, 2022,  a day on which the Church honours the memory of Saint Mary of Egypt, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis presided at the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of the Archangels in Albury, NSW, assisted by Father Platon Derlis, of the parish of Saint George in Shepparton.

In his sermon, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew spoke about the life of Saint Mary and her path to repentance.

He noted, among other things, that the Church chooses to honour and present the life of Saint Mary one week before Holy Week, so that the faithful may experience forgiveness and repentance before entering the holiest period of the church calendar.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew conveyed the love and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

In addition, His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis announced to the congregation that the presence of a priest in their parish is planned during Holy Week.

After the Divine Liturgy, a meal was served in the church hall, where His Grace had the opportunity to talk with the local Greek Orthodox faithful of Albury, while later he went to the local cemetery and performed memorial prayers for the deceased.
