His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis at the opening of the Exhibition for Ancient Greece in Canberra
His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis attended, whilst representing His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, at the opening of the Exhibition entitled “Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes”, which is organised at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.

The Exhibition will last until May 1, 2022. The official opening ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Mr George Papacostas, as well as representatives of the Greek Orthodox community and the political world.
The program of the opening night ceremony included a tour of the Exhibition and speeches addressed by the officials. His Grace, Bishop Bartholomew thanked the organizers on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while he spoke about the value of the exhibits, about the importance which the Ancient Greeks held with regards to the virtues of collectivity, courage, perseverance, love and devotion, and about the obligation of the Greeks of Australia to imitate these virtues in their lives .
Afterwards, His Grace, Bishop Bartholomew wished everyone a Merry Christmas, on behalf of the Archbishop, and the new year to be accompanied with prosperity, security and happiness.
It should be noted that an important moment of the opening night event was the Agiasmos (Blessing of the waters) performed by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew , assisted by the priest of the Parish of St Nicholas in Canberra, Fr. Petros Kipouros. It was the first time such a service was performed at the National Museum of Australia.
After the ceremony, a formal dinner followed.
