Greece salutes its soldiers
President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou honours Greece’s Armed Forces Day with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens, marking the annual observance on November 21, which coincides with the Feast Day of the Entrance into the Temple of the Virgin Mary.
The day serves to recognise and commemorate the dedication of Greece’s military forces to the nation, both in times of peace and war. In a message on Wednesday, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias praised the country’s Armed Forces as an “essential condition for our national survival.”
