Greece: Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry holds new meeting on ‘Eva’ storm
Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianidis chaired a new meeting held on Sunday at the ministry with the participation of the deputy minister, Evangelos Tournas, the general secretary, Vassilios Papageorgiou, the leadership of the Fire Brigade, as well as meteorologists to evaluate the new meteorological data about the intense weather front named ‘EVA’.
During the meeting, it was decided to send new warning messages through 112, if deemed appropriate, depending on the course of the weather. Meanwhile, all Civil Protection forces remain fully deployed and ready to deal with any emergencies due to the sever weather conditions.
The general secretariat of Civil Protection addressed recommendations to citizens to be particularly careful and take self-protection measures against risks arising from the occurrence of severe weather phenomena.
Meanwhile, a message via 112 was sent to the residents of Samos, Ikaria and the Dodecanese warning them of dangerous weather phenomena (strong storms) from Sunday noon until Monday morning.
According to the message: “Dangerous weather phenomena (strong storms) from midday today until the morning hours tomorrow in Samos, Ikaria, Dodecanese.
