With the participation of a large number of faithful from Patras and other parts of Greece and abroad, on Wednesday, 29 November 2023, the Great Festive Vespers of the Feast of the Apostle Andrew were celebrated in the city of Patras.

His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Chalkida officiated at the Great Vespers, and also preached the Holy Sermon in a theological and didactic manner.

Also present and co-officiating at the Great Vespers were Their Eminences, former Metropolitan Amvrosios of Kalavryta and Aigialeia, and praying from the Holy altar, Metropolitan Ierotheos of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia, Metropolitan Athanasios of Ilia and Oleni, Metropolitan Theoklitos of Ierissos, Mount Athos and Ardamerion, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Mani, His Grace Bishop Chrysanthos of Kernitsa, along with the local Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras, who with warm words welcomed and thanked the visiting Hierarchs and wished them well personally, but also heartfelt greetings on behalf of the Holy Clergy and the pious people of Patras.

The feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle this year is celebrated in a particularly joyous atmosphere, since the hearts of the people of Patra leap with great joy, after the canonisation of Saint Gervasios the God-bearer of Patras, by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
