Feast Day of Christmas celebrated on Princes’ Island
The great Despotic Feast of Christmas was celebrated with splendour at the Holy Metropolis of The Princes’ Islands, centred a tthe Cathedral Church of Panagia Eleousa, Princes’ Island, presided over by His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios of Princes’ Islands.
The following is the announcement of the Holy Metropolis:
With the wish that the Christ who continues to be longsuffering visiting His world from the height of His dwelling place may be born and preserved, Christmas was also liturgically celebrated this year throughout the Christian territory of the world, and certainly also in the present maritime Province of the Princes’ Islands.
Sovereign existential proclamation and exhortation of the Church, always but especially during the holy period heralding Christmas, there was again the familiarity of our heart with God and the lifelong invitations that he addresses to us in the Gospel: “My son, give me your heart”!
Otherwise, inequality and unhappiness will dominate our planet, and he with his behaviour will continue to cheat us of the peace that we live out, being abolished daily, and with the prosperity, the rules of the market of interests, will hinder and lag behind the people.
His Eminence, our Shepherd, Elder Metropolitan Dimitrios of The Princes’ Islands, throughout the appointed period of the Sundays of December, officiated and preached the Holy Word to the small flock about him, also presided at the Great and Holy Vespers on December 24th, and also on the Great Christmas Day, 25 December, in the Cathedral Church of Panagia Eleousa in the midst of many believers.
A festive Christmas reception followed in the hall of the Metropolis, with the grace of the island’s children being present amongst all the other faithful.
