Ecumenical Patriarch met Co-Chair of COVAX Shareholders Council

Chrysoula Zacharopoulou was received by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, with whom she discussed issues related to global health, especially the mechanism for equitable vaccine access in the poorest countries in the world.

In this regard, she said a joint appeal by him, Pope Francis and other religious leaders to the heads of state and government of the G20 countries to raise awareness would be useful.

The Ecumenical Patriarch congratulated Chrysoula Zacharopoulou on her initiative, stressing that a similar statement has already been recently signed by the Ecumenical Patriarchate with the central message “Nobody Is Safe Until Everyone Is Safe.”
