Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visits Abu Dhabi

On Friday, 3 November 2023, at midday, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew left from the patriarchal headquarters in Constantinople for Abu Dhabi, UAE, responding to relevant invitations to participate and speak at two international conferences, namely at the 16th World Policy Conference, on “The International System between Globalisation and Disintegration: Which Forces will Prevail?”, as well as at the Climate Change Conference (COP28), on “Confluence of Conscience: Uniting Faith Leaders for Planetary Resurgence.”

As part of his visit, His All-Holiness will have meetings with the Nuncio of the Vatican in Bahrain, to whom he will hand over a fragment of the holy relic of Saint Aretha, who was martyred in the region, as well as with His Highness Prince Seif, Minister of the Interior and Asst. Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, as well as with the Ambassadors of Turkey and Greece in the Emirates.

The Patriarch is accompanied by His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon and the Grand Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.

His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi was appointed Patriarchal Commissioner, who escorted the entourage to the Airport of Constantinople, together with the Grand Protosyncellus Archimandrite Theodoros.
