Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria

Today, 16 March 2024, the aircraft transporting His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has touched down at Sofia International Airport. The Ecumenical Patriarch will preside over the funeral service for the late Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria.

Accompanying Bartholomew are His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, His Eminence Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Grand Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s Private Office, Secondary Patriarchal Deacon Kallinikos, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Charalambos Nichev, Archon of the Great Church of Christ Mr. Boris Gurov, Director of the Press and Communication Office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Mr. Nikolaos-Georgios Papachristou, and one of the Secretaries of the Patriarchate Mr. Petros Bazgarlos. The Ecumenical Patriarch is scheduled to return to Constantinople later on the same day.
