Dozens of newly baptised in the parishes of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Dozens of baptisms were performed by His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa in various parishes of the city of Kinshasa, which is located on the western border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

On Monday morning, His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios visited the parishes of Saint Barbara and Saint John Chrysostom, in order to perform the sacrament of Baptism together with local priests and deacons. The parish of Saint Paisios came to the parish of Saint Barbara because the Church and Baptistry had not yet been rebuilt. A total of 40 natives received the sacrament of Holy Baptism. The Metropolitan spoke in both parishes expressing his joy that people are accepting the Gospel and the Orthodox faith, and thus Orthodoxy is expanding to more and more parts of the Congo. From the triumphant Church, he said, the great Missionaries of the Congo will rejoice in the continuation of their missionary efforts. Also, Metropolitan Theodosios after completing the sacraments, wished everyone a blessed and Merry Christmas.

On Tuesday, the arrival of new members to the body of the Orthodox Church continued, as mass baptisms were performed by Metropolitan Theodosios in the parish of Panagia Axion Estin, Kinshasa. Specifically, twenty neophytes received Holy Baptism, after proper catechism. Joy was painted on the faces of the young and the old. The light of the candles illuminated their faces, a light which His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios wished them to reflect on throughout their lives in the world.
