Difficult times for the Archbishop of Cyprus
Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus is going through difficult times as his health condition is deteriorating.
The Archbishop has been struggling with cancer for the last four years. He has been fighting with patience and bravery all this time, however as we have been informed in recent days it seems that his condition has deteriorated, with him remaining in bed, in the Archdiocese, and receiving the required medical care.
“His health condition is severe, as he is known to suffer from colorectal cancer. He is able to communicate with the environment, perform his duties, and handle his everyday life tasks. There are nurses on a 24-hour basis, there are not many options, but we give him everything he needs to deal with the problems,” his personal doctor Joseph Casios stressed. There was deterioration, but then there was a recovery, although his condition remains aggravated,” the doctor explained.
As he said, the Archbishop has finished his treatments for some time. “He is being monitored on a daily basis, he fully understands his state of health,” he said, adding that he visits him personally 2-3 times a day. He will not be transferred anywhere, it has been decided that all the treatment will take place at the Archdiocesan House,” he noted.
The wishes of the faithful for recovery accompany him in this difficult battle.
