Cyprus: Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Church of Saint Artemon in occupied Ornithi
In an atmosphere of deep emotion, the second pilgrimage-church congregation took place at the Holy Church of Saint Artemon the Hieromartyr in the occupied Ornithi of Mesaoria, after more than 80 years of the Church remaining closed.
On Sunday morning, 8 October 2023, the main day of the feast of Saint Artemon, the sanctification of the waters service (Agiasmos), Matins and the Divine Liturgy took place, and were officiated by His Grace Bishop Gregorios of Mesaoria.
Many faithful believers from different parts of Cyprus participated in the feast day celebrations of the small but historic church (14th-15th century) of Saint Artemon.
During the Divine Liturgy, the blessing of the five loaves (Artoklasia) and memorial services also took place.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Gregorios thanked all those who participated in the church service and those who contributed to its organisation.
Then there was a modest litany of the icon of the Holy Hieromartyr Artemon around the Holy Church after which everyone passed under it, invoking his intercessions to the Risen Lord Jesus Christ.
