On Friday afternoon, 1 December 2023, at the Church of Panagia Paramythia Vlach Saray in Constantinople, the final protocol of cooperation between Özyeğin University and the Waqf (mortmain property) of the concerned Community was signed as ” an Immediate action plan for the strengthening of the walls of the Church, the construction of a roof and agreement for the documentation of the historical site”.

The program will last approximately two years, starting on 1 January 2024, and will be funded from the cultural heritage grant program of the U.S. Ambassador Fund for Cultural Preservation.

The President of the University’s Board of Directors, Mr. Hüsnü Özyeğin, and the Rector, Ms. Feride Esra Gençtürk, were represented by the Dean of the School of Architecture, Professor Ms. Aslıhan Ünlü, as well as by the director of the program, Professor Ms. Ayşegül Özer, who presented to the members of the Board of Trustees of the Community of Panagia Paramythia Vlach Saray, the schedule of the works that will be followed.

Dr. Apostolos Poridis, architect of the Patriarchate and member of the Committee, will represent the Community’s Board of Trustees in the program’s cooperation group.

It is worth noting that the implementation of this program, although it had been announced for some time, was delayed due to the processing, and renewing of the terms of the contract between the American State and Özyeğin University and thus on Friday the final step was taken to start the work.
