Constantinople: Entrance fee to the Hagia Sophia for tourists

The tourists who want to visit Hagia Sophia from January 15, 2024, will be charged an entrance ticket.

The announcement was made by Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

Explaining his decision, Ersoy said that “the Hagia Sophia Mosque is one of the most important cultural and tourist centers in the world.

We have made certain arrangements to protect this important structure and ensure that visitors enjoy a better experience.

One of these arrangements is to introduce a ticket for foreign citizens to visit the Hagia Sophia mosque. Its implementation will start from January 15, 2024.”

As protothema.gr reports in an article, from January 15, the entrances to the monument will also be changed, in order to avoid any inconvenience between Turkish citizens who come for religious reasons and foreign citizens who are simply visiting as tourists. However, the price for the visit remains unknown for the moment.
