Concelebratory services on occasion 400-year anniversary of repose of St. Dionysios of Zakynthos

2022 marks the 400-year anniversary of the repose of St. Dionysios of Zakynthos.

The clergy and faithful on the Ionian Island this week commemorated the translation of the Holy Relics of the 16th century saint in 1717, with concelebratory services and events officiated by the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Theodoros II, upon the invitation of the Metropolis of Zakynthos.

A great Vespers and Doxology service, accompanied by a litany of the Holy Relics, was held on Tuesday at the Catholicon, or main cathedral, at the Stavropegic Monastery of Strofadon and St. Dionysios, on the island, in the presence of the Patriarch of Alexandria.
