Church of Greece calls for no ‘unilateral actions’ regarding restructuring of theological academies
The Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece and the theological academies of Athens and Thessaloniki have reportedly agreed over a common course regarding a proposed restructuring of the higher education sector by the relevant ministry in the country.
According to reports by the Orthodoxia news agency, the chairman of the Holy Synod, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, has conveyed a letter to Greek Education Minister Niki Kerameos, requesting that no unilateral action be taken without previous dialogue with the Church over proposed changes.
A common course on the matter was reportedly decided last month between His Beatitude and the deans and heads of theology faculties.
