‘Christ is Risen’ was proclaimed in the capital city of the Congo

In the Holy Metropolis of Kinshasa, the glorious Resurrection of the Lord was festively celebrated at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Saint Nicholas of the Greek Community of Kinshasa.

On the evening of Great and Holy Saturday, His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosios of Kinshasa made his way to the aforementioned Church of the Greek Community of Kinshasa to celebrate the Service of the Resurrection, in the courtyard of the Church, in the presence of the President of the Greek Community of Kinshasa, Mr. Gerasimos Dounis, the Consul of Greece in Congo, the Ambassador of Serbia and a large number of faithful Greeks, Serbs and other Orthodox brothers and sisters who live in Kinshasa.

The Metropolitan read to the congregation the Patriarchal Message for Holy Pascha, conveying the wishes of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and all Africa.

On Easter Sunday morning, His Eminence celebrated the Vespers of Love at the Cathedral of Saint Mark. The Resurrection procession started from the offices of the Metropolis and ended at the Holy Church, where the Resurrection Gospel was read in many languages.

The Metropolitan of Kinshasa spoke with great love to the faithful about the words “Christ is Risen” and explained that they are the foundation of the Church of Christ. He also distributed red paschal eggs and icons of the Holy resurrection to all those who had gathered to celebrate the feast day.
